Reflections from the Urban Future conference

UDINZ and UDF are delighted to be collaborating (as we often do!) to bring you “Reflections from the Urban Future Conference”.

Hosted in a different European city each year, thousands of city changers from all around the world come together for the Urban Future conference to share how they champion urban transformation; both where mistakes have been made and where change can be accelerated to successfully shape the future of our cities. Miriam Moore (Urban Designer at Boffa Miskell) was this year selected to particate in the “Urban Future’s Young Leaders’ Programme”.

At two events held in:

  • Te Whanganui a Tara Wellington on Tuesday 5 November
  • Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland on Thursday 7 November

we’ll hear her reflections. As she found out, even in Europe, car-dominance, housing crises and aversion to change remain prevalent in the negotiation of urban transformation. Ultimately, the power of Urban Future lay in the confluence of those with the ideas, and those with the political influence to make them happen.

Join Miriam as she shares her experience at Urban Future including:

  • A reflection on the Young Leaders’ programme
  • Highlights from the conference speakers and themes
  • Transferable lessons for urban transformation in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Where Aotearoa may be ahead of the game, and importantly,
  • Ideas for industry-led advocacy in supporting our changing cities.

With our thanks to Boffa Miskell who have kindly agreed to host these events.
